          This Website Content Organizer is designed to help you think through and gather what you want to include on your new or updated website. The Organizer is divided into the following four sections. Each section will help provide context for everything that will be added to your website. 1 – Define your ideal customer Who is your website for? What do they need to accomplish while on your website? 2 – Define your value proposition Does your value proposition clearly describe how you plan to solve your target customer’s problem? 3 – Identify the primary goal for your website What do you as the business owner want to achieve with your website? 4 – Determine functionality and features What needs to happen on your website? 5 – Organize your website content Identify, collect, and refine the most effective content for your website.

          Section 1: Define your target customer.

          Who do you want to attract to your website? Don’t be afraid to dig into this section. The better you understand your ideal customer, the better chance you have of creating a website they will find useful.
          Pick a first and last name. Seriously, Google it. If they were born in 1980, Google “Top Names in 1980” and you’ll get a list of names. Pick on.
          Give an Exact Age
          GENDER
          MARITAL STATUS
          CHILDREN
          Any unique identifiers about your customer’s culture, race or religion?
          What does your customer do for a living? Employed or owns their own business?
          How much schooling has your customer completed? What did they study?
          Country, State, City. How long have they lived there?
          Does your customer have a pet? What kind? What is their pet’s name?

          Notice How Your Customer Behaves
          What does your customer value in life?
          What keeps your customer awake at night?
          What does your customer believe? (proven or unproven)
          How much do they know about their problem? What do they wish your business would solve for them?
          What do they want and why?
          How would your customer describe how frustrated they are by this problem?
          What is the biggest reason your customer would buy what you’re selling?
          Why will your customer trust you?

          BEHAVIORAL

          Describe Why Your Customer Makes Decisions
          Where does your customer read about your products or services?
          What does your customer like to do for fun?
          Where and when do they shop, and how do they pay for it?
          Where do they spend their time online and offline?
          Which products/brands does your customer use?

          Section 2: Define your Value Proposition

          Does your value proposition effectively describe how it solves your target customer’s problem?

          Ex. [Part 1] to build furniture
          Ex. [Part 2] using wood from trees that were felled during natural disasters
          Ex. [Part 3] to create one-of-a-kind heirloom quality pieces.

          Section 3: Identify the primary goal for your website

          What's the main task you need your website to accomplish?

          What does your website need to include in order to achieve that goal?

          Before you commit to the website’s primary goal, think about how the value proposition compliment the primary goal of the website? Pause to review the PDFs of everything you have written in Sections 1-3. Is a coheasive message emerging, or do you need to make some adjustments? Go back and edit any sections you want to change before moving on to Section 4.

          Section 4: Determine functionality and features

          This is where things get a bit more technical. It’s time to think about all the moving parts that need to connect to, or function on your website.
